I had to renew my passport before applying for my work permit. Like many many, I dread visiting the immigration office as I recalled the long wait 5 years ago.To my surprise, the immigration office in Pusat Damansara was quite efficient. I arrived approximately 7.45am to collect my number and noticed that the counter has already open for service. According to the official website, it is only open at 8.00am.
With my number in hand (1030-meaning 29 person is ahead of me), I waited approximately 45 minutes before my number was called. Afterwhich I was required to wait for another 30minutes to make my payment. Once that was done, I was told to return in 2 hours to collect my brand new passport.
As I was in Pusat Damansara, there was plenty of mamak stalls to have my breakfast and kill time. Also, since I graduated from HELP University College, I took the opportunity to visit my old campus. Boy, was I walking in memory lane.
After 2 hours, I returned for collection. I waited for another 20 minutes and my brand new passport was ready. I managed to get all this done by 11.30a.m.
I walked away happy and impressed by the level of service improvement. Credits has to be given to our government who have tremendously improved their services.
