Disappointing Game

Germany versus Spain in the finals of Eur08. As I am based off Germany for a year, I supported Germany. However, they played a disappointing game today. With such a performance I was not surprised that Spain took the cup. Well done to Spain who put out a wonderful performance. They are the deserving winner.

P/S I had a long weekend as I made a short trip (with BEnny)to Münster. I will blog about it in the near future. There are loads of posts pending from my end. Need to start paying more attention to my blog.

Eur08 Germany Vs Protugal

I am lucky to be in Europe during the Eur08. The football craze here is tremendous. Whether you are a football fan or not you will definitely hit by the football fever. Even the shops aligned their apparel line to Eur08. Since I am in Germany, I am able to witness the German fans. They usually have the black, red and gold (German's flag) colored on their faces. We also see alot of them with the flags and some even wear hair wigs that symbolised the German flag. It is so cool to see how passionate the German are towards their home country. I grabbed the opportunity to visit the open viewing which is an open space with huge screens accompanied with tonnes for beer and food stalls. Before we could enter, we had to by pass the security where they looked into our bags for any potential weapons and also a body check. We are not allowed to carry any bottles in because it can be as a weapon.

The security level was good. Security personal was all around. Before a fight can happed, they step in to prevent things from getting worst. Malaysia should pick this up as they are horrible in managing large crowds. I had horrible experienced when I attended concerts in KL. As soon as you enter the open space, it is filled with German fans cheering for their home team. I was told there were close to 30,000 fans in the open area. Remarkable. I was also impressed by how civilized the crowd are. There was no pushing and there is plenty of space between us. Bear in mind that 80% of the crowd is drinking. In Malaysia, everything will be pushing forward. Sigh~ it is so embarrassing to talk about how Malaysians behave in large crowd.

Anyways, it was so cool to see the crown reaction when Germany scored their first goal. They cheered simultaneously and celebrated the goal. You could see the crowd jumping (with no pushing at all) and waving their flag hysterically. It was an amazing to be part of the crowd as the energy level was so high. It was interesting that when Portugal scored, the crowd was dead silence.

So, Germany is in the semis. I am planning to watch the game at the open viewing again. I think I ave already contracted the football fever. OLE! OLE! OLE! OLE!

Family in Hamburg

Since my whole family is here in Hamburg (except my dad), I decided to dedicate this blog to him. Here are the sequence (not in order) of activities since my Mom, Brother and Benny arrived in Hamburg on 060608 (Friday).

Barbeque @ Stadpark where we had a temporary pitt with loads of meat.

The weather was perfect for a barbeque. Most of us got a tan at the end of the day.

The Lim Family enjoying their beer! Prost!

Fung Jan @ Fishmarket. Check put the amount of fruits we bought. That is not it. We bought loads of pasta, fishes and fresh prawns. Pity the boys, they had to carry a heavy load of stuff.

Mom@ Binneralster.

Fung Jan in front of Groninger

This is among Fung Jan's favaurite dishes in Hamburg.

#2 Franzinskaner Weissbier

This is another wheat beer from Munich with the alcohol content of 5%.
I had this beer when it is 25 degrees and it was really refreshing. It is not bitter and nice to have when you are under the sun and thirsty.

It has a slightly a different pouring instructions compared to my previous. It is interesting that we are suppose to shake the bottle when pouring. For more details regarding this beer, visit their website here.

US Presidency & Fuel Hike

As a part of my morning routine, I wake up, switch on CNN and enjoy my breakfast. Today, I was sadden by the news that Hillary Clinton has been defeated in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. I was rooting for Hillary to be the next and first woman president. I always believe that the is a stronger candidate to go against John McCain. It will be interesting to see who will be the next president. To be honest, between Obama and McCain, I will go for McCain.

On another note, I read that our "beloved" Malaysian government hiked up the fuel cost by RM0.80 to RM 2.70 per liter. Thats a freaking 40% jump! What on earth is our government thinking? Our salary is not going up. They always argue that our fuel cost is much lower compared to other countries in west. I agree. But, in the west, they have all the infrastructure for alternative transportation. The trains and buses are efficient. They have bicycle and walking lanes to encourage their citizen to walk or cycle. We are also paying ridiculous amount for our cars.

I say, if you want to hike up the fuel prices, reduce the prices of the foreign cars and build proper infrastructure for our public transports!

Sigh~ despite all my disasstisfaction, Malaysia is still my home country. I will still return to its beautiful people and marvelous array of food. So, what else can I do but to strive to earn more money.

My current addiction

Lately, I am totally addicted to gummy bears. I love the chewy texture. It originate from Germany which explains why it is so good.It is known here as Gummibar which means rubber bear. Clearly the name comes from the texture of the candy.

Haribo is the first manufacturer who produces bear shaped sweets. So this is really the pioneer brand of gummy bears. Cool eh? I must bring some home so that you guys can understand how good these are.

Check out the big ass 1.3 kg box of gummy bears. It is now sitting in my kitchen. If I come home fat and out of shape, blame it on them!!!!
