Fried Noodle

Boy am I proud of my fried noodle today. Everything turned out well. I been frying noodles quite often since I was here but it wasn't close to perfect. Its either too salty, to much black sauce, too dry or it is just not appealing to the eyes. This time around, I think I did pretty well. It looks decent and it taste good as well. As a result, I thought I should post it onto my blog so that I as a remembrance that I can cook a decent friend noodle.

I love the way the picture is taken. BTW, my brother is a profession in taking his own pictures. I think he has an advantage because he has longer arms =P

#5 Spendrup

5.4% alcohol content.

For those who knows me understand my love for beer. What would a beer drinker do when she is a Sweden? Try the Swedish beer of course. I tried Spendrup in an Italian restaurant in Sweden. It was fresh from the barrel, nicely chilled and the first sip war lovely. I recall the beet to be rather light.

From my reading, Spendrup was founded in 1897 and the family brewery is the larges Swedish owned brewery in Sweden. The business is still run by the Spendrup family.

Birka: The Viking Town

I took the opportunity to visit the original viking town in Sweden. My timing was just perfect as they were having a "viking festival" of some sort to attract tourist. Basically a bunch of people came into the island dressed in viking outfit.

Unfortunately, I am not able to let know how to get there because I was sleeping throughout the car ride. All I know is that we need to take a ferry across. =P

It feels like I went back to the past when I stepped foot onto Birka. We were welcomed with Viking drumming and men dressed in viking outfits.

As I continue to wonder in the town, there were tents build t display how viking used to live. You will see women cooking and knitting. According to them, they are knitting based on the Viking's technique.

Later on as we wondered, we found a tent where we could make our own viking bread. Two types of flour was introduced. The rich man flour made out of white wheat while the poor man flour made out of whole grain wheat. It is funny that things are completed different now. I decided to go for the poor man's bread since I always like whole meal bread. The bread is eaten with butter, salt and some spices. Yummy~

After walking around, I decided I should take a picture with one of the viking (see above). After the picture was taken, the viking said I am now married to him and I shall be his mistress staying in his tent. =P I was almost kidnapped by a viking!

Thereafter, we sat down and watch the presentation of some viking games. I took part in one of them where I had to hold a leg up and hop around. The aim is to push the other parties off balance or outside the ring.

I continued to climb the hill and it was totally worth it. The view was remarkable.

If you are visiting Sweden, please pay this place a visit. It is worth you time and money. Quick Tip: bring some food and have a picnic if you are visiting there in summer. For more information about Birka, click here.

The Beatles

I visited the wax museum called Panoptikum which is located in St Pauli. The entrance fee is 5 Euro per person however if you have the Hamburg Card, it is only 4 Euro. This wax museum is nothing compared to Madam Tussuad in London. It is rather disappointing as it only has minimal wax figures and it does not look identical to the real person. The attention to detail was not there. Also we could not interact with the wax figures as there were bars to prevent us to go closer to the figures.

My recommendation is to save your money to visit other museums like Rickmer Rickers or Cap San Diego (a ship museum)

Did you know that the Beatles started off their career here in St Pauli? Cool eh?

#3 Cab

Cab - Cola & Beer, flavoured with dragonfruit.

This is a 50-50 mix of cola and beer with a little flavour of dragon fruit. It is refreshingly different and will be perfect for those who does not enjoy the bitter taste of beer. The combination with cola give it a sweet taste and it contains only 2.5% Alc / Vol.
